Grab those eyeballs, and after building your regular visitors, capture them into a free mailing list. Once you have those subscribers, see what they need and create products to sell to them via free email.
At Solohacks Academy, we believe it’s never been easier than now for someone to start up and run a business without spending a dime. But remember, if you want to save that money, you have to be willing to spend effort – that’s the trade-off.

Low Investment, High Profit Model Using Knowledge Commerce
This diagram below is all you need to know to make money online with near-zero investment. You’ll also get high profits through this method of doing what we call “Knowledge Commerce”.

The steps are easy:
- Get onto Medium, a free online blogging space where millions upon millions of readers congregate daily to read their favorite authors. Create a brand on Medium. To see how read this article from Medium.
- Start blogging profusely, always keeping your unique niche in mind, and your target audience.
- Make sure you add an incentive (a free 6-part email course, maybe) that users can give you their email addresses in exchange for. Give them a link to click to a free Mailchimp form, whereby their email addresses get into your free Mailchimp mailing list. Mailchimp has a free plan that’s good for up to 2000 subscribers. You can get Mailchimp to send subscrinbers a Welcome Email and the 6-part email course as a drip-fed sequence.
- When you get enough email list subscribers you’ll have what we call an MVA – a Minimum Viable Audience. That means at least enough subscribers to give you feedback on what products they’d find very useful if you created these. And again your MVA is also the smallest group that could possibly sustain you in your work, if they bought your your products.
- Now how do you sell products to these people who want to buy? Again Medium allows embeds of products. This is done through Embedly, which changes a paltry $9 per month as its base plan. How to embed and sell products? Here an article “Sell directly on Medium” that explains the process. You use Paypal to collect money (and Paypal is free unless someone pays you, whereafter only they dock a small percentage fee from your earnings).
You don’t ever have to get off this business model. You can get by at this measly cost and increase profits by blogging more and capturing more subscribers and selling more – for the rest of your business life.
(Unless you want to get onto your own separate website at some stage – and are itching to spend to prove to yourself that you too are in a “serious” business.)
1. How to make money online from home via Knowledge Commerce
Are you desperately attracted to working from home as a lifestyle? Or have the current global distressing circumstances – or perhaps your own family situation – forced you to examine the option of permanently working from home?
It really doesn’t matter whether you’re making a conscious choice to go for your dreams or you’re being pushed into this thought-stream by what’s happening around you. I want to tell you that you are the brink of huge, huge profits and a big inflection point in your life, if you pursue the opportunity life has thrown at you.
There is a line of work from home that requires very little money to start. It can be done at whatever pace you desire, to earn however much money you desire. And it’s easy to get the skills for, if you don’t already have it. What’s more, it’s an area where you can’t fail because it just asks you to convert your existing knowledge into cash piles. It is called Knowledge Commerce, and people working on their own from home, in their coziest pajamas, are making millions.
2. How to make money as a freelancer in Knowledge Commerce
If you’ve checked the market recently you’ll have noticed that there are millions of solopreneurs running businesses where they sell their knowledge. This new field is called Knowledge Commerce.
Solopreneurs who have some expertise, passion, interest or hobby that they can teach are selling what they know as ebooks, courses, membership sites or consulting services. It’s a huge market too. Experts believe it is going to be worth $325 billion in quick time now.
But here’s the catch for the solopreneurs in this field. They have reams of stuff to blog about for their marketing, besides creating all those info-products. Knowledge marketers get trusted, and bought from, only when they have a lot to say, and say it with brand authority.
We too are solopreneurs in Knowledge Commerce. We know how much we need help to get the needle moving in our businesses. A large share of that $325 billion Knowledge Commerce pie is likely to belong to freelancers whom solopreneurs need help from!
3. How to make money on the side using Knowledge Commerce
We know the predicament most professionals in jobs are in today. Jobs are on shaky ground. They may be less than ideal for you. In fact, they could be quite the bugbear of your life, if you’re not earning half as much as you are due, or your job isn’t half as satisfying as you want it to be. Still, you have to hang on and can’t afford to leave, right?
There’s a smart way out if you’re ready to bend your mind towards it. It’s an online side-business idea that takes very little out of you and yet earns great results – it’s called Knowledge Commerce.
You take what you are good at – or whatever you love as a topic – and start teaching that knowledge to others via ebooks, courses, membership sites, or pre-packaged consulting. Once it is set up, the system can earn you “passive income” even as you sleep.
Knowledge Commerce is a $325 billion market and growing – and it’s full of solo-entrepreneurs doing this as a full-time business or a side hustle. We think you should seriously consider making extra money on the side with this uber-easy “knowledge-as-product” idea.
4. How to make money online by writing for Knowledge Commerce
Knowledge Commerce is a very hot online business idea now worth $325 billion. It will never be going out of demand either, till time itself stops. In Knowledge Commerce, you just write a lot on any subject of passion – and convert it into your area of visible expertise.
You write ebooks, course materials, podcast scripts, video scripts, content for membership sites, consulting or mentoring webinar scripts – it’s just about creating loads and loads of valuable practical and in-demand content in your niche. You then write marketing stuff to sell all these online as “ecommerce using knowledge products”.
If you love writing and are already reasonably good at it, you can just polish up your skills a bit and get going. If you’re a beginner to writing, and daunted, just remember that writing is only another form of speaking. If you can talk, you can write.
There’s also a huge market for writers who can write for others doing Knowledge Commerce. So if you’re not into selling your own knowledge products, why not earn fistfuls of dollars helping others write up their workloads?
5. How to make money online as a student via Knowledge Commerce
Don’t worry if you’re a complete beginner at doing business and making money online. Life is far simpler than you fear, even though the people who have achieved great success like to show off that they had to climb mountains to get there.
Of course, you can never make money online without some effort, some learning, and some dedication. But what you don’t need is a lot of experience, a lot of money or a lot of expert knowledge.
You can gain knowledge as you get on, and you can teach people that knowledge as you learn and improve at it. It’s all possible with a simple online business called Knowledge Commerce.
There is a special energy that absolute beginners bring to the online world of business. You are fresh and have no rigid notions of what works and what doesn’t. You are willing to work at learning new things, knowing you can make money off what you are learning. You are also not afraid of sharing your mistakes – to teach others how not to make them. Who says you need anything more to succeed in making money online?
6. How to make money online for beginners in Knowledge Commerce
There are two strong trends in your favor if you are a student these days wanting to start a business online even while you are studying.
One, millennials everywhere are gravitating towards solo-online-businesses that they can start with little money, and many are earning in millions. Two, there is a growing field of Knowledge Commerce where you just teach people what you know or love and earn handsomely for it.
There’s a huge demand now from students online for all kinds of smart knowledge. Not only would other millennials love to know what you know, but they also love to follow “thought-leaders” on the Internet. If your words can sway your loyal fans and followers, you can also easily become a micro-influencer earning from big brands who want your services.
There’s huge earning potential for student millennials entering the online business arena right now. You know everything about the crowds of other millennials you hang out with, right? Millennials are the highest spenders on the Internet, as you know. So why not turn both your knowledge and influence into helping the millennials around you to earn piles of cash?
7. How to make money online by answering questions in your niche
Did you know that one of the fastest ways to rank your blog posts high on Google is to answer questions people have? If you type in any keywords into Google, you’ll find a section that says “People Also Ask” and Google posts some questions people have searched for.
There is even a section on many Google SERP pages that calls for you to give fresh answers to people’s questions. If you’re lucky if could be your answer that satisfies Google – and bingo, you are ranked.
Why is answering questions so much coveted by people who want traffic to their websites? Because questions are very specific search terms. Imagine if a person typed the keywords “mobile phone charging problems” vs. “How to fix my mobile phone if it won’t charge?” The more specific your answer, Google loves to rank it. And clear questions beget specific answers.
I think you can make a Knowledge Commerce business just by answering questions people ask in your niche. Answer them on your site as blog posts, or answer them on Q & A sites with links back to your site. Create ebooks and courses for in-depth answers. You have a no-fail business model.
8. How to make money online by blogging in your niche
If a professional CEO were to look at the earning potential of your blog, would he see just what you see? Or would he see opportunity that you cannot see?
The secret to making a lot of money online from blogging is to see what “assets” your blogging creates for you that can then be sold. Let’s count such assets.
The space on your website in and around your blog is one such asset. The potential for paid content on your blog is another asset. The community you create by writing your blog is a third asset. The personal influence you create from your blog is a fourth asset. The authority to advice others is a fifth asset you create from your blog. And finally, when you’ve learned the ropes of blogging, you can even freelance as a high-priced blogger for others.
There’s one caveat though: you can make money from your blog only if you have been blogging consistently over time in a focused niche, and built a solid archive of topnotch articles, and also built a great fan base of loyal readers and subscribers. Once you’ve got that, you can make money left, right and center.
9. How to make money online affiliate marketing in your niche
Some of the best money that bloggers make – even from their early days – comes from Affiliate Marketing. You include subtle sales pitches or product recommendations as you write your blog posts, and add links to these products. The product sellers will pay you an affiliate commission for referring customers to their sites.
It sounds simple, right? But there are some caveats to this business. Unless your site is really good, with a lot of traffic, subscribers, and blog posts, many serious product sellers won’t want you as an affiliate. Other disheartening issues in this business include being cheated of your commission by some horrible marketers, and some “affiliate link thieves” who may try to steal your money.
Notwithstanding all this, there are hundreds and thousands of bloggers who have made piles of cash – in millions – promoting a few but highly reputed products, at high commissions, and by doing a fabulous Affiliate Marketing job. You should aim to learn from the best, and indeed, there are many great examples of affiliate marketers who follow best practices to earn without any risks.
We are great believers in Affiliate Marketing. We think selling other people’s products (without having to create your own), and to earn handsome commissions, is a great way to learn how to sell your own knowledge products later. So get your toes wet in Affiliate Marketing – but, as the wise ones say, hasten slowly.
10. How to make money online genuinely without getting scammed
If you go through your email inbox on any good day – or scour the Internet for good business ideas – you’ll find lots of suggestions from dubious operators that say you can “make money very fast”, “make money right here and now, today”, or “make money by just replying to this email and earn by evening”.
If red flags don’t appear in your head at the thought of “making money fast” on the Internet, you are a doomed to be an Internet dud.
The internet IS full of money. Don’t think I am saying it is a non-lucrative business field. But it is full of money if you are willing to spend time and effort to build a solid business. It pays those who take the effort. It pays in spades. The Internet also buries alive those who want to make a quick buck. The words “quick” and “Internet” just don’t go together.
We think if you are wise, and set yourself the right expectations of the Internet as a place to make money, here is the question to ask: “How can I start a business on the Internet that costs nothing to get going, and still pays in spades?” That question has a terrific answer. There is a business called Knowledge Commerce.
